EASTERN LEAGUE 21 APRIL 2024 RPC DUNDEE

Premiership Team

It was a very disappointing day for the Premiership squad today with three losses and one draw.

We lost the first game 2-1 versus Raith with our goal being scored by Jimmy Mac. A wonderful save by Dave Waddell in goals from a penalty was our only other real highlight.

We then went into Game 2 versus Luncarty and we went a goal down which Dave had no chance with as their player ran onto a ball but was not called up for it.Gordon Smith equalised later in the game to earn us a draw.

In Game 3, we played Hearts who again dominated play and we lost 1-0 due to an unfortunate deflection from a Gordon through ball which rebounded to Gary the Hearts player who dinked it over Dave in goals.

Game 4 was quite even versus Dundee East but again we lost 2-1. Our goal was scored by Paul Simpson.

Championship Team

The Championship squad had a very successful day in the league with 3 wins.

We started with a 3-0 win versus Dundee United SC with two goals from Colin Gibson and one from Mike Bell.

This was followed up with a fine performance versus Dunfermline Dynamos. A win by 3 goals to One with goals by Colin, Mike and Allan Harrison!

In Game 3, a fine strike by Davie Milne from the penalty spot late into the game secured a 1-0 win against Dundee WFC.

Arbroath FC Walking Football Club were represented at the Glasgow Cup at Toryglen Regional Performance Centre Glasgow on Sunday 14 April.

GlasgowCupTeam

The squad comprised of:- ,(Back Row) Alan Durno, Phil Skelly, Gordon Smith, George Mackenzie, Wullie Craib, and Dave Scott (Front Row) Jimmy Mac, Chris Heenan, Allan Harrison and Dave Milne. One of the teams in our group (John Suttons) did not turn up so we had to play longer than the other sides at the competition.

The lads started off very well with a 2-1 win over the reigning Scottish Champions Giffnock with goals by Jimmy Mac and Gordon Smith.

This win was marred by an injury to Gordon who soldiered on through to the final whistle.

The second game was a bit easier versus Glenbuck who are fairly recent competitors at this level and we won 5-0, goals by Jimmy Mac 3 and Gordon 2.

We then played Motherwell and we lost 3-1 with a goal by Gordon and in our final league match we lost 4-1 to eventual finalists Townhead Strollers with our goal scored with a left foot screamer from Wullie.

Unfortunately we lost Gordon for the last game as his injury was just too painful.

This meant that we did not qualify for the quarter finals on this occasion.

Overall a bit disappointing for the squad but we go again on Sunday in Dundee in the second of the league sessions.
